This large-scale Decathlon store in Poland underwent a comprehensive technological renovation, introducing a state-of-the-art Loxone building management system (BMS) to control its operations. The project was designed not only to modernise the existing infrastructure, but also to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of the store.

Centralised management of technologies

One of the main objectives was to create an integrated BMS that would allow all of the stores technologies to be controlled from one place. Previously, the individual systems in the building had operated independently from each other, making control and optimisation difficult. Loxone has now merged these conflicting systems into one smart system that works as a united force to control the building intelligently. This enables the automation and central management of lighting, HVAC and provides the ability to monitor energy consumption.

What’s more, with Loxone, the store’s staff now have the ability to monitor the status of all of the buildings systems in real time. The App enables any faults to be quickly identified and fixed, minimising the risk of store downtime.

14% reduction in energy consumption

One of the key objectives of the project was to reduce energy consumption. Thanks to Loxone’s advanced technologies and integrating as a BMS, it was possible to achieve savings of as much as 14%. Previously all of the stores systems had been manually operated, naturally leading to inefficiencies, but now Loxone automation has been implemented these inefficiencies are a thing of the past.

Sustainable development

The renovation of the Decathlon store was also an expression of the desire for sustainable development within the company. The installation of F-gas sensors and water meters makes it possible for precise monitoring of resource consumption and rapid response to potential failures. As a result, the store can pursue a more environmentally friendly resource management policy and meet ESG goals.

Great emphasis was placed on optimising lighting, ventilation and air conditioning. Thanks to schedules and scenes it is possible to automatically adjust the settings depending on the time of day and the number of people in the store. This translates into energy savings and improved comfort for all concerned.

The new system has automated many day-to-day tasks, such as switching on lights in the car park or adjusting the stores temperature. As a result, employees can focus on other customer focused tasks and the store runs more effectively.

The renovation of the Decathlon store using Loxone automation is a perfect example of how modern technology can support commercial sustainability and operational efficiency. With this investment, the store has taken a huge step towards a green future.
