24-7 Supermarkets automated by Loxone
Shopping 24 hours a day, seven days a week: This is possible in five supermarkets in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, thanks to automation from Loxone. We visited one of the stores to see how it works.
The company Landmetzgerei Setzer operates a total of five supermarkets, selling its own products as well as general groceries. The project was implemented by Loxone Flagship Partner, i-BUiLDiNGS. Access to the supermarket is provided by the NFC Code Touch keypad in conjunction with the Loxone Intercom. When delivering goods, employees also have individual permissions to access or control stores across locations through connectivity via Trust. If a customer needs help entering the store, they simply ring the bell and the relevant staff are informed via the Loxone App and can grant the customer access.
All doors in the stores are equipped with Door & Window Contacts. When the door is opened, an entry mark is automatically created on the CCTV video recording. If the door is left open for too long, the Audioserver sends a message over the loudspeakers reminding customers to close the door. This also happens with fridge and freezer doors if left open for too long to save energy and protect goods. In addition, the Audioserver in conjunction with the Quadral system provides background music for leisurely shopping.
The five supermarkets air conditioning is used at practically no cost thanks to its connection with each locations photovoltaic (PV) system via Loxone. As soon as there is PV excess, the air conditioning units automatically switch on. The windows are equipped with motors and are automatically tilted – for example at night – to cool the stores rooms for free with fresh outside air.
Camera systems, Smoke Detectors, Water Sensors, Presence Sensors and Door & Window Contacts provide versatile warehouse monitoring. Loxone’s central App allows operators to track all of the stores at anytime and from anywhere. Plus, if there are any problems, the persons on shift is automatically informed.
We were looking for a digital system that we could individually extend and access the building from anywhere and at any time. We also wanted to combine all the technologies into one system. That’s exactly what Loxone offers us.
