Behind The Scenes at Loxone Training!

1st June 2015 in Backstage

This week, we’re taking a look behind the scenes at a Loxone Expert Training course. For those who aren’t yet familiar with how Loxone training works, we offer three Smart Home automation training courses back to back in one location – Part 1, Part 2 and Project Days.

The full Loxone Expert Training course usually runs over five days, Monday to Friday. Our training courses are now CEDIA accredited, so there’s never been a better time to book onto one!

Part 1

Part 1 kicks off on Monday afternoon at 1pm, so you can avoid the morning rush-hour and enjoy a bit of a lie-in. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by one of our trainers and there will be a chance to enjoy a nice hot cup of tea or coffee and meet the other course attendees before we sit down to work.

We’ll start off with an introduction to Loxone and the Miniserver and explore what the term ‘Smart Home’ really means. We’ll look at the difference between control and automation, and how to maximise the functionality of your home through recommendations made as part of ‘the Loxone Standard’.

The Loxone Standard defines a minimum set of sensors and switches that we recommended are installed to create the ideal Smart Home environment. We recommend including the following components in every room: a switch, door and window contacts, a motion sensor and a temperature sensor.

After a short break for refreshments, you’ll enjoy an introduction to our configuration software, Loxone Config. Whether you have experience with configuring other automation systems, or you consider yourself a bit of a Luddite, you may find yourself surprised by the simple, intuitive nature of Loxone Config.

After the day has ended, we invite you to join us for dinner where you can ask any questions you may have with our trainers, and get to know the other attendees on your course.

Part 1 serves as a foundation on which Part 2 and the Project Days build.

  • Cost: £69 (including VAT) per person.
  • Continuing Education Units (CEUs): 2
  • Included: Refreshments and dinner
  • How to book: Call us on 01183 130 140 or visit our training page.

Loxone Training Courses

Part 2

Part 2 of the training course runs over two days – Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, we dive into Loxone Config to look at more advanced system settings, file structures, advanced configuration, and configuration for common situations such as lighting, heating and access control.

This is often when the ‘brain-ache’ kicks in – there’s a lot to learn, but don’t worry. It might not feel like it as this point, but by the end of the week, Loxone Config will be a doddle!

On Wednesday, the Demo Case is the star of the show. You will learn how to configure various sensors and actuators, and have the chance to test your program live. Today you’ll learn about temperature, humidity and brightness sensors, wind and rain sensors, motion detectors, proportional heating actuators, DMX applications such as RGBW LED strips, iButtons and more.

We’ll also take a look at the requirements for becoming a Loxone Partner, as well as the benefits and resources available for you to enjoy as part of our Partner program.

 A Word From James

So now you know all the official details, but you might still be wondering what it’s really like at training. I asked James what he enjoys most about running our training courses and I think he sums it up pretty well:

James_Wrike

“I love running Loxone training, we get asked loads of interesting questions which keeps us on our toes. Seeing new people get to grips with the software and realise how simple creating a Smart Home can be is very rewarding. Good food, good beer and good banter also helps!”
