Krakow apartment using 100% Loxone Air technology
Some people have a vision from day 1 of planning what their dream home will include and plan the entire building accordingly. However, sometimes the project evolves over time or you only discover the perfect technology when your project is underway or even completed. Worry not as Loxone with its Air technology can be retrofitted. This is exactly what happened with this flat in Krakow, the owner only discovered Loxone and approached the Partner in the latter stages of the build once the walls had been painted but Loxone’s versatility with its Air technology meant that it could still be installed and was the icing on the cake for the owner.
The choice was made for a completely Air installation
An investor who was creating his dream industrial-style flat reached out to Loxone’s Gold Partner, ControlMe, towards the end of the project. The stage was so late on that it was at the point of really just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s in the flat, when the owner decided that they wanted to implement Loxone intelligent building automation. The big selling point that attracted the investor to Loxone was the simplicity of operation and versatility of the system, and being able to use air technology to be wireless without having to start everything again from scratch, which was exactly what this project needed.
Lighting
A home with an intriguing mysterious industrial feel and character needs the right lighting to emphasise its features. Lighting scenes have been created for a wide range of occasions, using dimmable and LED lighting. This results in the perfect atmosphere for the resident, for example, in the cinema room when the owner wants to watch something Loxone switches on atmospheric, dimmed lighting, lowers the roller blinds and activates the projector and audio system. At the entrance to the property the lighting switches on to the appropriate brightness level for the time of day automatically, meaning that the lighting is always at the correct level and it does not needlessly waste electricity (and money). This system is also coordinated with the shading system so that the flat is at a high level of comfort via passive means for the resident but also protects the owner from high consumption of expensive utilities by opitimising their usage. If manual intervention is required to change anything in the room then a single click on the relevant area of the Touch Pure or a tap in the Loxone App is all that is required.
Control
The Loxone Touch Pure fits seamlessly into the interior of any building design aesthetic and provides intuitive manual control over the room’s technology if you should want to intervene. One Touch replaces up to five conventional switches, saving wall space and providing an enhanced visual experience, which is sleekly finished and perfectly complemented by the elegant glass finish of the Pure version.
The Touch here also contains a temperature and humidity sensor (plus if chosen could contain a CO2 sensor as well), which contributes to maintaining the desired climate in the home. In cooperation with air conditioning and Valve Actuator Airs (installed on the radiators), the flat’s temperature is always kept at an optimal level, which is freely adaptable to the wishes of the homeowner and in relation to their presence. This makes it possible to achieve further savings without sacrificing comfort at all. Heating here is provided by a gas boiler and the installation of Loxone to intelligently manage the system has managed to see a saving of up to 30% on gas usage and bills.
Access
Residential access is one of Loxone’s stand-out solutions – with a keypad (NFC Code Touch) linked to the Nuki lock which allows access to the flat by either using a passcode or an NFC fob. The user has full control of this, and the ability to edit the access rights in the Loxone app. An alarm is also linked to the access system, which works by Presence Sensor Air.
Loxone Air fulfilled all the tasks
As the integration of Loxone into the flat was at the final stages of the renovation it meant that the entire installation was installed using our wireless Air technology. Air technology worked perfectly for this project here! With Loxone’s devices having an extremely useful feature that if any of them are permanently powered then they act as a signal booster – essentially creating a mesh – so that even in the furthest corner of the flat, there is no problem with connection. With Loxone offering a wide range of products in Air, it has meant that even with having to implement the system late on in a retrofit manner, no compromises have been made with the functionality and it is exactly how the owner wanted it.
