Damper Control for Automated Air Damper Systems

Previously, we covered how to integrate HVAC systems into the Miniserver for smarter temperature control. The next step is integrating damper control, allowing temperatures and schedules to be set for each room individually.

Did you miss anything in Part 1?

In Part 2 we’ll be talking about zoned heating and cooling realized through the Loxone system. Many HVAC systems are designed with two zones, each controlled by a separate thermostat—typically one on the upper floor and another on the lower floor.

Since heating and cooling are distributed solely through the HVAC system, the only way to control or redirect airflow is by manually adjusting the ventilation grills, which can be inconvenient and time-consuming. Undoubtedly, many of us have experienced the hassle of closing vents on the first floor during the summer and opening them back up in the winter to balance temperatures between the floors. This constant adjustment becomes a repetitive task, and it doesn’t always yield the desired comfort throughout the house.

To take full advantage of the benefits of setting specific temperatures and schedules for each room, you’ll need to install a Loxone Damper Tree in each room split. This will enable you to:

Heat the bathroom in the morning and in the evening while lowering the temperature during the day to save energy.
Turn the climate control system off or keep it running in power saving mode when the house is empty.
Keep the bedroom cooler than surrounding rooms to improve sleep quality and save energy.
Gain remote access to your HVAC system, allowing you to monitor temperatures and receive notifications if any issues arise, such as temperature fluctuations or water leaks in the HVAC system..

How to Install the Damper Tree in Three Easy Steps

The Loxone Damper Tree controls air flow and temperature by adjusting its position within the ventilarion system, redirecting airflow to desired areas and rooms. The installation of a damper control is as simple as one, two three:

Put the dampers into the ducts where the ductwork branches to the individual rooms.

Connect the dampers via Loxone’s Tree Technology, allowing up to 50 device connections with a single wire.

    Number three
Monitor temperature in individual rooms via Touch or Room Comfort Sensors to control HVAC operation.

    Control HVAC with Tree Dampers

Loxone Config makes it easy to implement features such as:

Heating and cooling schedules with damper control

Individual heating and cooling schedules for each room

Setting of temperatures with damper control

Setting and changing preferred temperatures based on zones

    Automatic heating with damper control

Automatic heating or cooling to preferred temperature based on time of day

    Energy saving with damper control

Save energy when nobody is at home by switching HVAC to power saving or stand-by mode

Get a notification thanks to damper control

Automated Notifications about potential issues, like sudden temperature drops

Say goodbye to adjusting your termostat throughout the day. Once Tree Damper control is set up, temperature adjusts automatically to your preffered comfort setting.
