5 Smart Home Family Favorites
That’s where your home comes in. Yes, it can be the hub of mania, but the house itself could probably help by taking care of everyday tasks so you can focus on the more important things. With that in mind, we reached out to some of our customers to find out what their smart home family favorites are. We’ve listed the top five in this blog to give you some inspiration.
Keyless locks
“When I think back to my childhood, I remember how often I lost my front door key and the knock-on effect this had like having to change the locks and get everyone a new key.
That’s now a thing of the past. I wanted to make sure that my children didn’t cause the same hassle for me, so I chose an NFC Code Touch instead of a traditional door lock. Plus, instead of bulky keys, all family members have a neat little NFC Key Fob. If one of these is lost, it’s not the end of the world. The fob is just deleted from the home’s configuration – then I can buy a new one for just a few dollars and easily add it. It’s like magic, and safer than a traditional key.”

The ‘baby’ lighting mood
”Since the birth of our little one, we’ve had our lighting mood for feeding in the bedroom. When activated, the lighting mood shines dimmed lighting near the rocking chair – but the rest of the light in the bedroom stays off. This mood is great because my wife can feed the baby while I stay fast asleep.
Sometimes a diaper change is needed in the middle of the night. When this happens, we have our lighting mood in the bathroom which only turns on a dimmed level of lighting so that the little one is not dazzled staring up at lighting that is at full brightness.
For us, this is a family favorite, and we’re sure it will be for the newest member of the family too – unfortunately, he can’t tell us yet ;)”

Bedtime stories on demand
“Our little girl can’t fall asleep without an audiobook. So as soon as she’s in bed, I start one of her fairy tales via the app. She then falls asleep quite quickly, so the audiobook is automatically set to stop after 30 minutes.
This means I don’t have to worry about remembering to turn the audiobook off and instead I can free up some time for other things.”

Fun at the (smart) poolside
“Of course, having a swimming pool is the ultimate for our two children. Filtering, backwashing and rinsing cycles happen automatically. We can intervene manually if need be – either via the app or on the edge of the pool with the Touch Surface.
The engraving in the stone gives way to numerous features and is a real eye-catcher. With this intelligent touchable surface switch, practical functions such as the pool’s lighting can be operated with a single tap.”

Communicating with
“Text-to-Speech”
“One of my favorite features is Text-to-Speech. I use it, for example, to tell the kids to come downstairs for dinner. At the touch of a button, the message “Dinner’s ready” plays on the multiroom audio speakers.
We also use it to communicate remotely. For example, if I’m at work and my wife isn’t answering her mobile, I just select a predefined message in the app to play on all the speakers. The message could be “I’ll be home in an hour” or “Please call me urgently!”.
It’s a must-have in our family”
