A Church to Behold
Challenge
Our client had a Heating & lighting system from the early 1980’s. The main lighting was old style halogen lamps consuming a massive 8.5kWh.The heating was no exception, 180kW of Gas boilers!
The challenge was set, improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Solution
We started to explore options with our clients and the London diocese, the solution for us and them was always going to be Loxone. We decided to retain the high level Lighting fixture as these were considered features within the Church, we did however replace the lamps with 14w LED versions.
This reduced the main lighting to just 756w! Not even a 1000w!
A massive energy saving and around 15 years of life in the lamps, so no more monthly replacements with high level access visits.
When we turned the lights on for the first time there was a look of astonishment from our clients and the congregation, no one had realised just how beautiful the ornate decoration on the roof was, over eight thousand watts of energy and some of the most elegant features had still been hidden for years!
The Solution for the Heating was a replacement single Viessmann boiler of 120kW, again, a 60kW reduction and a 30% increase in stated efficiency.
All that was left was the plant room for the new boiler, 27 underfloor heating loops and 6 heating zones all with mixed flow rate & temperature requirements. Loxone was perfect for the job.
We rewired the plant room and provided a fully managed energy efficient system with Loxone at the heart.
The building virtually manages itself and the energy savings are significant.
Loxone was one of the only solutions available that could fully integrate all the existing systems and provide an elegant, simple and unobtrusive installation to a building of significant cultural and social importance
